Established in 1924, the International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL) is a scholarly organization dedicated to the comparative study of legal systems worldwide. Its primary mission is to promote and stimulate research in comparative law on a global scale. From its inception, comparative law has seamlessly integrated teaching, research, and practical applications, and the IACL carries on this tradition by promoting comparative law’s utility in law reform and its role in legal education through a variety of congresses and publications.
Professor Lacroix focuses her research and teaching activities, both in Canada and internationally, on the fields of private law and comparative law, specifically in the areas of civil liability and personal rights. Most recently, she launched a new collaborative research chair which is mirrored at the Université de Liège under the stewardship of Professor Frédéric Bouhon. The Chaire-miroir Ottawa-Liège : Les droits du corps (Ottawa-Liège Mirror Chair: The Rights of the Body) serves as the foundation for a comparative research relationship exploring public and private rights relating to the human body.
Congratulations to Professor Lacroix on this prestigious and well-earned appointment!
