Ronan Pons successfully defended his PhD in Law dissertation titled “La preuve en droit des systèmes d’intelligence artificielle”.

Under the supervision of Dr. Jessica Eynard and Dr. Céline Castets-Renard, the University of Ottawa Research Chair in Accountable Artificial Intelligence in a Global Context and a Faculty member at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society, Dr. Ronan Pons’s research focuses on the legal framework of artificial intelligence technologies to protect the rights and freedoms of individuals, particularly about the risks specific to AI. Importance is given to interdisciplinary collaboration, especially to technological sciences (mathematics and computer science).

Dr. Ronan Pons conducted his doctoral research under a co-tutelle agreement with Université Toulouse 1 Capitole (France), where he was supervised by Dr. Jessica Eynard. His research was part of the French government's research chair "Law, Accountability, and Social Trust in AI" at the Artificial and Natural Intelligence Toulouse Institute (ANITI), where he also served as the coordinator.

Beyond her supervisors, Dr. Ronan Pons doctoral defense committee consisted of Drs. Juliette Senechal, Vincent Gautrais, Etienne Vergès and Celine Mangematin as jury members. The defense chair was Dr. Nathalie De Grove Valdeyron.
