It is with great pride that we share the news of two significant achievements:
OHS Honours - Best Safety Communications Program, Silver award
For the second consecutive year, the University of Ottawa has been selected as a Silver winner in the Best Safety Communications Program category of the OHS Canada Honours awards.
This award testifies to our ongoing commitment to clear, effective, and impactful communication in promoting workplace health and safety across all levels of our organization. Our efforts to keep safety at the forefront of our operations continue to be recognized, and this recognition is a reflection of the hard work of our team and the commitment of the University community.
OHS Honours - Top 25 Under 40
We are also excited to announce that Martine Bergeron, a member of the University of Ottawa’s Occupational Health and Safety team, has been named one of OHS Canada’s Top 25 Under 40 safety professionals for 2024! This recognition highlights Martine’s exceptional leadership, innovation and contributions to advancing safety within Facilities and uOttawa in general. Martine’s commitment to excellence and interest in safety have had a significant impact on the well-being of our community.
Over the past 12 months, we have spread the word that safety is everyone’s responsibility. We have done so through planning and promoting Safety week, launching the first uOttawa health and safety strategy, leveraging popular culture during the holidays by using examples from Home Alone, the movie, to illustrate holiday safety, conducting a survey of safety culture, integrating a safety tool into the institutional Microsoft Teams application, recognizing a monthly safety champion, launching a virtual health and safety bulletin board, and much more!
