For the third year in a row, students from the University of Ottawa and Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQOttawa) joined forces to compete in the annual Engineering Games. The 30th edition of the games took place from January 3-7, 2020, at l’École de Technologie Supérieure in Montreal, QC.

The Engineering Games is the largest engineering competition in Quebec. It brings together over 500 engineering students from the region to participate in different competitions, all while expanding their professional networks.

This 4-day event is divided into five competitions, The Machine, Entrepreneurship, Academic Competitions, Sports and Cultural.
The robotic machine competition is the main challenge of the Engineering Games. In this year’s edition, students had to design a machine that would overcome various obstacles of a predetermined journey.

The entrepreneurship competition, displays the students entrepreneurial minds by creating and developing a prototype, creating a business plan and selling their pitch to judges.

The academic competitions test the theoretical knowledge and practical applications of different engineering disciplines.
The cultural competitions are all about trivia, debates and improvisation competitions while the sports competitions include various indoor and outdoor sports.

This year, the UQOttawa delegation, made up of 22 students, delivered outstanding results: 1stplace in the small delegation category and 3rd place in both the robotic machine competition and the oratory debates portion of the cultural competitions.

Congratulations to UQOttawa! We are very proud of our team and its remarkable achievements!
