Feeling a little peckish?

Even over the summer, there’s plenty to nosh and sip on at uOttawa. The Première Moisson outlet in the Social Sciences building (FSS) is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For a meal or a quick snack to keep you going, choose from their selection of coffees, pastries, salads, sandwiches, soups, and much more.

And if you’re looking to change things up a bit, two food trucks are also on campus! The Bac à frites, which is parked at 56 University between 90U and Simard Hall, features poutines, veggie burgers, and hotdogs on Monday to Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Alternatively, Flour Kitchen, located at 25 University, serves Asian food on Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

You will also find take-out, snacks, pastries, and drinks at the PIVIK store, which has reopened in University Centre (UCU level 0).

Did you know you can use your uOttawa Card to buy food at our off-campus partners, namely 3Brothers, Food Frenz, and Gabriel Pizza.

Sustainable green spaces

Our campus features a host of green spaces! Whether you want to relax, study, or eat, why not make the most of these energizing spots, like the University Centre (UCU) patio, the Husky indoor courtyard in the Biosciences Complex, or the new urban garden between Morisset Hall and the UCU, across from 90U residence.

Want to go shopping without breaking the bank? Browse through the items at the Free Store; it’s in the name: everything is free! The Free Store is open two days a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You’ll need to show your employee card to get in. If you want to donate items you no longer use, why not place them in the donation box located on the first floor of the Learning Crossroads (CRX).

Fitness

Need to stretch your legs or step away from the office? Why not have fun with various fitness activities all summer long and set your week up to a different beat!

Start slow with yoga on Tabaret lawn every Monday from 12:10 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Then head to University Square on Thursdays to burn some calories with a Zumba session from 12:10 p.m. to 12:50 p.m.

The weight rooms in Minto and Montpetit, along with the pool, remain open for those with fitness memberships. University of Ottawa employees and students can still purchase an all-inclusive summer sports facilities membership for the second half of the summer (starting July 6) for only $85+HST ($75 for students).

If you want to invest a little more into getting into shape, why not enrol in a Sports Services course like kickboxing or spinning.

Please note: Until the end of summer, the Montpetit weight room will only be open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Improve your language skills

The University provides support staff members and professors with various opportunities to improve their second-language skills. The Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) offers free English or French language courses tailored to the needs of individual learners. Just take the placement test, and then enrol in an online course!

APUO and APTPUO professors can also enrol in intensive workshops. Learn more about free second language courses for employees.

There’s a whole city to explore off campus!
