In September, two former students of the Faculty of Engineering Secondary School, Esmée Bennison and Alicia Allen, won the Micro:bit’s 2021 Do Your :Bit global challenge by creating a device to help manage anxiety.

The Faculty of Engineering congratulates the following Chemical Engineering graduate students whose thesis have been nominated for highly prestigious awards for the Winter 2021 term.

uOttawa researchers Ghassan Jabbour and Ned Booker used AI to find a narrow set of chemicals that can disarm the spike proteins of the COVID-19 virus. When bound to a select class of nanoparticles, these chemicals can be coated or printed onto any surface or material under the sun.

We are happy to announce that once again this year, DPI (The Association of Public Sector Information Professionals) is giving a sponsorship, aimed towards the uOttawa Maker Mobile Workshop, to the Outreach team of the Faculty of Engineering.

uOttawa’s Water Resources Laboratory will be making waves with their new tsunami and earthquake simulators, funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation. The one-of-a-kind research equipment will help Faculty of Engineering professors Ioan Nistor and Colin Rennie to better understand how extreme water events affect our infrastructure and what can be done to mitigate the damage.
