Abstract
With the rapid growth of AI, particularly with tools like ChatGPT and Copilot, it has become essential to reflect together on how these technologies are transforming learning and teaching practices. This bilingual workshop/webinar, led by Professor Martine Rhéaume, will give you the opportunity to explore the many aspects of AI in education, while addressing important issues such as transparency and integrity in the use of these tools.
Don't miss this opportunity to engage in an enriching discussion and discover practical tips for the optimal and responsible use of these new technologies.
Martine Rhéaume
Professor of French as a second language at OLBI
Martine Rhéaume has been a teacher and department head of French-as-a-second-language, Spanish, German, and Latin at Glebe Collegiate, Colonel By Secondary School, Hillcrest High School and Gloucester High School. In order to participate in a genuine language learning experience, students from these schools have participated in linguistic and cultural exchanges to France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Luxemburg, and Japan.
Her research interests focus on teaching and learning language in blended models (in person/online) and on the pedagogy of distance learning of languages. She is particularly interested in the mindset of linguistic risk-takers during online linguistic and cultural exchanges with Francophone speakers from African countries such as Egypt, Ivory Coast and Benin.
Martine Rhéaume hopes that her research will foster more international online exchanges that aim to teach languages in real-life contexts, develop cultural appreciation, and encourage linguistic risk-taking in foreign languages in order to enhance the personal and professional development of language learners.
