Olivier Marceau is getting a Court’s eye view of the dramatic developments surrounding Israel’s top court.

The 2022 graduate of the Faculty's J.D. National Program has started a prestigious five-month international clerkship at the Israeli Supreme Court after completing his LL.M. at the University of Tel Aviv. Marceau previously obtained his LL.B. from Université de Montréal in 2021.

Foreign law clerks at the Court are assigned to a specific Justice and typically research comparative legal issues and draft memoranda regarding legal questions which arise in pending cases. Foreign clerks find themselves engaging in several different areas of law such as public international law, criminal law, civil law and constitutional law.

Marceau is clerking for three months for Justice Daphne Barak-Erez Barak-Erez and for two months for Justice Yechiel Meir Kasher

This year’s other clerks are from Canada, the U.S. and Switzerland.

“The Israeli Supreme Court is one of the most respected courts in the world. It is a cornerstone of the Jewish state’s democracy. To clerk there is an opportunity of a lifetime,” said Marceau.

Congratulations to Olivier on this prestigious honour!
