The Office of the Chief Risk Officer has recently introduced an initiative to recognize the commitment of support staff and professors to workplace health and safety. The Health and Safety Leader award honours support staff and professors who exemplify the core principles outlined in Policy 77 — Occupational Health and Safety and help advance health and safety in their own areas of responsibility.

We’re delighted to announce that Gabriel Ramsay, senior specialist, career and employment, and co-chair of the University Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (UJOHSC), has been named Health and Safety Leader of the Month at uOttawa. His unwavering dedication has made a significant impact on promoting a safe and healthy work environment at the University.

Gabriel has consistently demonstrated exemplary engagement within the UJOHSC and played a significant role in fostering a safer working environment for all members of the University community.

We believe that recognizing and celebrating the achievements of individuals who embody the principles of Policy 77 can inspire others to prioritize health and safety as well. This award not only acknowledges the exceptional efforts of the recipients but also is a reminder of the University's commitment to providing a safe and healthy workplace for its staff and professors.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Gabriel.

We also encourage all members of the University community to continue demonstrating a commitment to health and safety in their own roles. We look forward to honouring future recipients.

Together, let’s work towards a culture of safety and ensure that the University of Ottawa remains a leading institution in prioritizing the well-being of its students, staff and professors.
