Professor Margaret McCuaig-Johnston was given advanced access to the Arctic Foreign Policy announced by Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly and is available to discuss the new policy.

“As with Beijing’s malign behaviour towards Canada by interfering in our elections and transnational repression of Chinese nationals who have found refuge in Canada, China has become a serious threat to Canada in our own Arctic. In addition, they have held joint cold weather military exercises with Russia and the two countries have a joint research and development lab.

"Canada's new Arctic Foreign Policy shows the government is fully seized with the risks and is working collaboratively with the U.S. and other Arctic nations (which are also NATO countries) to develop joint measures to neutralize the impact of those two aggressive countries.”
